Free Cricut Valentine’s Day Print Then Cut Cards
Free Valentine’s card printables are one of those things that I really like, but I hate having to cut them out–because I can’t cut a straight line with scissors, especially with the kids helping. And don’t even get me started on breaking out the paper cutter with the kids around.
So, being able to do Valentine’s Day projects with my Cricut Explore is just about the most awesome thing ever.

People confuse the term print then cut with thinking the Cricut actually prints. It doesn’t.
Print then cut is a way to tell your machine not to cut out the actual image on the design and instead to cut around it.
How to print then cut on the Cricut
- Select or design an image.
- Make sure the colors are what you want them to be.
- Select all of the elements of the design (you can drag your mouse over them all)
- Now click flatten. Now your machine knows to cut around the image.
Tips for Making Print and Cut Projects on the Cricut
Ok, so if you’ve never done a print and cut Cricut project, you might be feeling a little intimidated. But, I promise it’s not hard at all. To make you feel better, I came up with some tips to help calm your nerves.
How to clean your Cricut Mat
You can check out this video on my YouTube channel if you don’t know how to clean your mat.
Make sure your light grip mat is clean. I know you love your Cricut and you use it a lot. But the deal is, that mat isn’t going to do so good cutting your cardstock if it’s not gripping well. So, clean that mat.
If your printer isn’t printing nicely, clean the print heads and maybe even get new printer cartridges, if your ink is at all blurry or not up to your desire.
Your Cricut will detect the black lines on the print–so do not cut them off. As a matter of fact, don’t do anything to the print except to put it on the mat and then load it in the Cricut.
Don’t fold, don’t cut, don’t do anything. Just walk it from the printer to the Cricut.
