Funny doormats with the Cricut it is just the thing to spruce up your front door space. I use this doormat from the dollar tree and a little spray paint and made some magic happen.

  • Outdoor paint
  • a pair of scissors
  • Cricut adhesive vinyl (I used permanent vinyl)
  • Transfer tape

  • A blow dryer or heat gun

Dollar Tree DIY: Funny Doormat

I was looking for the perfect outdoor mat to match my smart-mouthed personality. Then I remembered I can make Cricut stencils.

Materials

  • Dollar Tree Doormat
  • Permanent adhesive vinyl or Cricut stencil vinyl
  • Transfer Tape
  • Outdoor paint
  • Masking tape
  • Flat head paint brush
  • Heat Gun or Blow Dryer

Tools

  • Cricut Standard Grip Mat
  • Cricut Machine
  • Weeding Tool
  • Vinyl Scraper

Instructions

  1. Create a design, download the one above or grab one from my shop or Cricut access
  2. Cut a stencil with your Cricut machine.
  3. Weed and apply transfer Tape to your stencil (I like to use a piece that has been previously used so it comes off easily.

  5. If needed cut the stencil to fit your mat.

  7. Apply the vinyl onto the mat (it won’t stick completely)
  8. Carefully pull off the transfer paper leaving your custom stencil behind onto the mat

  10. Use the masking tape to tape down the design to the floor mat
  11. Using a blow dryer or heat gun, heat the vinyl so that it sort of melts tight.

  13. Apply paint by dabbing with your brush, I sprayed a light coat of white spray paint to prime a bit.

  15. Remove the vinyl stencil as soon as you are done painting and touch up any areas that may need more paint
