I have a 5 year old who doesn’t want to eat, clean, go to bed on time or anything.. She is the youngest of kids whos ages range from 21 to 14 so needless to say she is super spoiled.
I had to figure out a way to motivate her (bribe) into doing the things I need her to do. She loves money so I thought, why not make her special penny banks and give her a couple coins to drop in each time she does what she is told.
My thoughts went a step further when I had the idea to spell out her name with the jars, her name is ZaRiyon (pronounced like Darrion but with a Z) but ran out of jars when I got to the y. So I decided to do her nick name Ariy, I eliminated the Z that you see in the video all together…
My thought, as I said above is to give her some change each time she does what is asked of her, which is a reward within itself, but once she has enough to fill all the jars then we will cash in the change and I will take her where she wants to spend it…. I think this will also teach her about saving.
We have just gotten started, but so far she is super excited about this idea… She told me that her penny banks are so cool. Im excited too because once she has emptied them, we can start all over…

This is such a cute idea and I love that it's sparkly and looks different from traditional penny banks! I need to make one for myself.
I find that money is the perfect reward for my children too :-). And it's a great way to introduce them to the idea of jobs for when they're older too. These jars are so cute – my daughter would love them!
Great idea for the reward and the banks. Will give her a sense of responsibility. It will also give her an appreciation of how you have to work for money and things.
This is so adorable! I would try these with my boys, but my hubby calls glitter "the devil's dandruff" and he refuses to allow it in the house–so silly, right?!?
Very cut penny banks. I can only imagine how challenging it is to get kids to do stuff.
What a fun craft to do. My girls would absolutely love this! Thank you so much.
What a lovely idea. My kids and I love anything sparkly. We will have so much fun making this.
My girls would really love this! My youngest loves anything that has glitter on it!

This is s great idea! When I was her age I was pretty strong willed and bribery was my best motivation too! I think it will teach her valuable lessons too!

Doing the nickname was smart! I think this is great.
These are so cute and a great way to recycle. I'm going to share this idea with my friends who have children. Thank you for the idea.
