Pandora Controls Back On Android Lollipop Lock Screen (Android 5.0.1)
For you all who are avid Pandora users like myself, the changes in the Android update to Lollipop was semi-devastating. With the roll out of lollipop there were some changes that made music playing more of a hassle than anything, with the loss of lock screen widgets.
Now for me, I didn’t immediately lose functionality of my Pandora app controls. I just woke up one day and the lock screen controls were gone. Now I know this may seem trivial to some, but when you listen to Pandora as much as I do and also pay the $4.99 a month for Pandora One added with the fact that you are used to it working one way to control your music, then this is a pretty big deal.
I use Pandora from my phone, in the car, at home, at the gym and any other time I want to hear music. There was a widget you could put on your home screen, but for those of us that use some sort of security on our phones, it isn’t safe (while driving) and it was extremely inconvenient to have to put your lock code in to listen to music.
For me it was such a huge issue, that I spent all day Saturday looking for a work around for this. Downloading several lock screens that allow widgets on the lock screen. Of course I never found anything that worked for me, so I began my search for a new music player.
I never got far because I don’t want to pay any more than the $4.99 that I was used to paying and I also want to have my ad free music, and I just didn’t find anything that I was willing to switch to.
But low and behold I woke up this morning and my Pandora controls were back and I heard the angels singing, well actually it was my Jhene Aiko station.
Needless to say I am ecstatic about the fact that I can skip, play, and pause all with out having to go pass the lock screen.
I am not at all a techie, so most of this is way over my head. But I do understand the problem and am glad you found a workable solution.
That's great. I have an app for playing my downloaded music, and I love that I have lock screen controls. It's such a pain to unlock the screen all the time.
I'm not an android uses but I'm glad that you found a work around. I stream my music directly from my phone but I do use pandora on the computer and I would be sad if it didn't work right.
I just hate when they fix something that is not broke. I am glad it is back working the way you like and your would is filled with music.
My oldest two boys are grown. They are both huge Pandora fans!
Oh my goodness, I have no idea how to use Pandora. I've heard so many people talk about it. Is it free? Serious question! LOL
Yes Nancy there is a free version. I pay for the version without ads.
I am not a techie but I hate when things are updated! I get use to things a certain way and it blows my mind when it changes! I'm glad everythign worked out!

I don't know if I could make the switch to android, but I am happy that you were able to get around the problem! Tech probs are so frustrating.
That's great that they fixed the app so quickly. It's unbelievably frustrating to spend hours searching for a tech solution with no results.
I have never used Pandora, I used to do iTunes, and then switched to Spotify and have never looked back! I am glad it's working again for you because as a daily mass transit commuter it would be ugly if I didn't have my music for my commute so I feel ya there!
I have this app, but I never really got to use it. I will now, after reading this post.
I love Pandora! I love that I can listen depending on my mood. I honestly haven't purchased any music because I have Pandora.

Glad to know that it's okay now. I used to have the Pandora app. Forgot exactly what happened. I think my son deleted it. 🙂
I'm an iPhone user, but it's great that they put the Pandora controls back on Android Lollipop's lock screen! I'm sure many people are happy about this.
My husband introduced me to Pandora a couple of years ago. I don't have an account, I just use his, but I love to create stations of my own. My personal favorite is the Luke Bryan channel. I love me some Luke Bryan!

My phone has lock screen controls for my music. It makes it so much easier to change the song.

I love Pandora and spotify. I listen to music in the background quite frequently. I haven't paid attention to the lock screen.
I hadn't used PAndora in a long time. I like Spotify, but I haven't used it on my mobile.

I have Pandora one, love it with my Samsung S6 Galaxy but no lock screen controls. Did something happen recently? My workaround is with my Moto 360 smartwatch, which is easy (esp. when driving) but I don’t wear it everyday
