When you’re a busy mom, it often feels like you have no time at all to yourself, so when you do get a few minutes of alone time, it’s only natural to spend it relaxing with your feet up in front of Netflix or indulging in a hot bath, but could there be something more worthwhile to do with your precious free time?
There’s nothing wrong with relaxing and taking the time to pamper yourself, but when the kids are on a playdate, or you’ve sent them off to school, there are lots of great things you could be doing with your free time. Here are just a few ideas:
Improve Your Education
Whether you’re a stay at home mommy or a working mother, it never hurts to improve your education and open up new doors of possibility. So, when the kids are packed off to school, why not take the time to study physics, business or even get a masters in school counseling online? You’ll be able to reboot your career and do something you truly love, and you won’t even have to leave the house to get qualified if you don’t want to.
Start Your Own Business
If being someone else’s employee isn’t your thing, why not use your spare time to start up a business? You could make cupcakes and sell them in the neighborhood, create cool crafts to sell online, or even start your own blog with a view to monetizing it and turning it into a regular source of income for your family. Find something you truly love, start small in those spare moments and eventually you’ll have a great little business on your hands.
Learn Something New
If you do nothing but veg out in front of the TV when the kids have gone to bed, you’re missing out on the opportunity to engage your brain and learn something new, something which could potentially change your life. Even something as simple as learning how to do origami can enrich your life and keep your mind lively, so it doesn’t have to be something super complex.
Declutter Your Home
Another great way to fill those little pockets of time you get when the kids are at school, and you don’t have to worry about them is with decluttering your home. Most of us have a lot more stuff in our home than we really need and it can make it difficult to keep the place clean and tidy. By making an effort to sort and trash or donate the excess, you can transform your home, reclaim your space and feel more relaxed in those moments when relaxation is all you want to do.
Volunteer
Volunteering really is a great thing to do Not only do you help out people and animals in need, but you also get out of the house, meet new people and learn new skills. The joy you see on the faces of the animals and people you help out is so amazing that this has to be the best option on the list!
How do you make your free time (if you have any) more worthwhile?
