Buttermilk Biscuits are such a treat, whether you are serving them as a side dish, or serving over a pile of sausage gravy. Air Fryer Buttermilk Biscuits are so simple to make. Light, fluffy homemade biscuits that take no time to cook to golden perfection.
Air Fryer Buttermilk Biscuits
Now I don’t hate canned biscuits, they have their job when you are in a huge time crunch. But, nothing beats a warm fresh biscuit that you can add a dollop of butter or spread on some jelly or jam. This is something I grew up eating and still love today.
Instead of the traditional route to making biscuits in the oven, I reached for the Air Fryer. It gives you that golden brown texture on the outside of the biscuit with a flaky and warm center. Trust me, this recipe is worth trying.
Are Buttermilk Biscuits The Same As Scones
Crazy as it sounds this is a valid question. One of the biggest differences between the two recipes is scones have eggs in ingredients and biscuits do not. Then a lot of times the scones will be mixed with herbs, fruit, or topped with a glaze. But, in a sense, the base of the recipe can be similar.
How Do You Store Buttermilk Biscuits
Allow your biscuits to fully cool, and then transfer them to an airtight container or sealable bag. Then tuck your biscuits in the fridge for up to one week. Or if you want to keep them on the counter they will last 2-3 days tops. I find that storing in the fridge offers a longer shelf life, and prevents less waste.
Can You Freeze Buttermilk Biscuits
Absolutely. Simply cook your biscuits and allow them to cool down completely. Then in a freezer bag or airtight container layout some biscuits. Then store in the freezer for up to three months.
To thaw simply place in the fridge overnight or pop in the oven to reheat that way or even microwave.
Why Won’t My Biscuits Rise
Ensure that you are using cold butter and that your baking powder is still good. A lot of times baking powder can go bad and you will add it to a recipe and find your dish falls flat.
How to Know If Baking Powder Is Still Good
To know if your baking powder is still good, you simply take a teaspoon and pour into a bowl that is oven safe. Then boil water, and pour about 1/4 cup of water onto the baking powder. If it begins to bubble and fizz, the powder is still good. If not, it is time to buy new.
Best Way To Reheat Buttermilk Biscuits
I line a baking sheet and then place biscuits evenly. Toss in the oven at 325 degrees and heat until the biscuits are fully warmed up. If you find the oven is over-cooking the outside of the biscuits, make a tent out of aluminum foil and place over the biscuits to prevent further browning.
