I am a huge fan of fruit smoothies but to be honest I don’t want to pay the price tag for buying them at our local smoothie shops. With my love for juices and smoothies that would add up quick. I am trying to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into my diet, so I thought to juice and drink smoothies!
I love the Mango-a-Go-Go Smoothie from Jamba Juice and wanted to create a similar one at home. It was so easy to make and it cost a fraction of the price. Plus if you have leftovers just store in the fridge or freeze into popsicle molds for a chilled treat later in the day. Check out my green breakfast smoothie recipe too!
4-Ingredient Mango Smoothie Recipe
The best part of all about this mango smoothie recipe is it requires 4 ingredients. Nothing crazy or hard to find, basic everyday ingredients. Just chop up your fruit, toss in the blender with your orange juice and start blending. Easy peasy, no fuss treat.
What Goes Well In A Mango Smoothie
The beauty of a mango smoothie is a lot of fruits work well together. Go tropical like me and use pineapple, coconut or add in fresh strawberries for a less tropical taste. You can really mix and match your fruit and make it work for you. I look at the ingredients I toss in and ensure I would eat them and then think will they taste good together.
How To Make A Mango Smoothie Without Yogurt
If you are not wanting a smoothie that uses yogurt, you came to the right place. This mango smoothie uses orange juice instead. Orange juice adds enough liquid to the fruit for it to blend well, and adds a citrus element. You could also use other juices like apple or pineapple juice, I just prefer the orange paired with the fruits.
- 2 cups orange juice I like to juice my own
- 1 cup pineapple
- 1 banana frozen
- 2 cups mango frozen
- Toss it all into the blender and blend until smooth.
How To Peel A Mango
Mangos can be a little tricky when it comes to peeling them! I like to peel a mango from the top down to the bottom. I take a peeler (y-shaped) and work my way at removing the skin. Slice your mango in half, but work my way around the pit that is in the center. Then slice and cut wedges out of the mango. Mangos have a hard pit like a peach, so remember that when you go to slice through.
Can You Eat The Peel Of A Mango
The answer is not a good idea. Some people have been known to have an allergic reaction when they eat the peel of a mango. Many get a similar reaction to say poison ivy! It can be painful for sure. Don’t skip a corner, take the time to peel your mango before tossing in the smoothie.
I hope you all enjoy my quick and easy mango smoothie recipe. Let me know how you like it.
