I love the pairing of the hearty oats next to the strawberry and banana.
Oatmeal Bars with Strawberry and Banana
When I first made these I didn't add in bananas, and I felt like something more could be added to the bars to give another element of flavor.
Then it hit me, bananas would fit perfectly. It changed the texture and flavor to the perfect amount. We love the mix of strawberries and bananas in our home, so it was a perfect fit.
You could play with the fruits in these oatmeal bars to create a flavor combination that is a good fit for you. I have made some bars with different nuts and fruits in the past, but I still always come back to this combination because it is unique and blends perfectly. Hearty, fruity, lightly sweet, are how I would define these strawberry oatmeal bars.
One tip I will share is parchment paper can be your best friend with this recipe. It will help make it easy to pull the bars out of your pan so they don't break apart. I never knew how much I would use parchment paper as I got older and began cooking for my family. It truly is great for so many recipes, and saves me from a mess and allows me to have gorgeous looking bars.
I love fresh strawberries and cooking with them and here are some strawberry tips and tricks!
How to Keep Strawberries Fresh Longer
Keep your strawberries cold and dry until you are ready to use them. Lay your strawberries out on a try that is lined with paper towels, and then lightly cover them with plastic wrap. Put them in the refrigerator and then rinse them as you use them.
How Long To Soak Strawberries Vinegar Wash
Mixing 1 part white vinegar and then 10 parts water, is a vinegar wash that will help clean your fruit. You can do this for any fruit, I soak strawberries for just a few minutes then rinse and pat dry and use.
Enjoy your strawberries while they are in the season and make tasty treats! If you make these bars, let me know how you like them!
