Air Fryer Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Peppers gives you that classic Philly Cheesesteak but without all the heavy carbs from bread.
Philly Cheesesteaks are always welcome in our home. There is something about the onions and peppers next to that juicy meat. It works. So I wanted to create a lighter version while I am watching my carbs.

Let me walk you through how to make this tasty and savory weeknight dinner your whole family can enjoy! Try my low carb pizza stuffed peppers if you are wanting even more pepper recipes.
What Color Of Peppers Should I Use For Stuffed Peppers
You can use any color of bell pepper. The red, yellow and orange all offer a sweeter taste to them. Green is going to offer a more savory take.
So mix and match or use whatever bell pepper you prefer the most. Traditionally you will see green bell peppers are used with cheesesteak.
What to Serve With Cheesesteak Stuffed Peppers
- Crunchy and Crisp Salad
- Side of toasted hoagie bread
- Vegetable Side
- Or eat alone
This dish is pretty all-in-one but feel free to pair any of your favorite sites with this recipe. We generally eat them as they are, and skip adding sides in.
Do You Cook The Meat Before Stuffing The Peppers
Yes. You want to cook your meat mixture before you go and stuff the peppers. Cooking the peppers in the Air Fryer is mainly to melt the cheese and slightly soften the pepper. If you used raw meat the mixture would still be raw once the cooking time was up.
Can You Reheat Stuffed Peppers
Of course. Toss in the microwave for a quick reheat or opt to toss them in the oven. Warm the peppers up until they are fully warmed inside and out. If you are worried about the cheese over-cooking, place aluminum foil over the peppers in a pan when you go to bake in the oven.
Can You Freeze Stuffed Peppers
You can freeze this recipe. The one thing you want to make sure to be aware of is that when you go to thaw your peppers they will have a softer texture. As the peppers thaw, they soften a lot more. The flavor will still be tasty, but they will offer a different texture.
What Type of Meat Do You Use Use For Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Peppers
Traditionally you reach for steak that is thinly sliced. But, ground beef has become another popular meat that you can use in stuffed peppers and still get that Philly flavor. You just want to reach for a really thin steak or cooked ground beef for this recipe. Drain off any excess fat from the ground beef.
