Shrimp, corn, potatoes, Cajun seasoning, sausage, and more are what you find in most shrimp boils. Depending on your flavor preferences, you might want to change up some of the classic ingredients.

What Is A Shrimp Boil

A shrimp boil is a fun way to make a feast for a crowd. Traditionally you boil a pot full of water and you batch cook ingredients. Then lay out some paper bags on the table and dump all the contents out for people to feast on.

  • shrimp
  • cajun spices
  • potatoes
  • ears of corn on the cob
  • sausage
  • mushrooms
  • melted butter

You are more than welcome to play around with ingredients. Some people toss in zucchini at the very end of cooking for an added twist. It is totally up to you.

How Much Shrimp Do You Need For A Shrimp Boil Per Person

Depending on if you plan to add sausage or another type of protein to the mix, you might aim for around 1/2 pound of shrimp per person. Toss in some smoked sausage and you will not need as much.

What Type Of Cajun Seasoning Do You Use In A Shrimp Boil

The two biggest seasoning mixes are the Old Bay Seasoning which is a classic for shrimp boils, and the other is Creole. Creole is easier to find in some areas so that is why it gets tossed into the mix. You can buy mild and hot versions of this, so make sure to check the labels.

What To Serve With A Shrimp Boil

  • Cornbread | This is a tasty one to have on the side. Slather on some butter and enjoy the tasty combination.
  • Cocktail Sauce | Some will want to dip their shrimp in cocktail sauce, so I always recommend having that on hand.
  • Salads | Looking for a lighter side, consider tossing in a salad to the side, for people to make and enjoy.
  • Lemons | Always pair a shrimp boil with lemons. When you squeeze that fresh lemon on top of the mixture it will bring out so many new flavors to the mixture.

Best Way To Store Leftover Air Fryer Shrimp Boil

Take any leftovers you have and place them in an airtight container. Then store 2-3 days. Use your best judgment on if the boil is looking like it is going bad.

To reheat simply warm up in the microwave, or toss in the Air Fryer for a few minutes to heat it up that way. The shrimp will change in texture so make sure not to overheat or it will become rubbery.

This dish is perfect to feed a crowd. Add the shrimp, add the potatoes, add corn, and maybe even some lemon wedges or lemon juice.

I like to add hot sauce to mine too because I love a little kick of flavor. I also use yellow onions.

No need to bring any water to a rolling boil, work with high heat on the stove, or cover the pot because everything is easier now.

Maybe you can try changing things up a little bit and making this recipe into a crab boil. Ever even heard of a seafood boil without having to bring to a boil some water?

How do you make shrimp boil from scratch?

The instructions on this site will teach you how to do just that. And you will be able to speed up the process by using your air fryer.

How long should you boil uncooked shrimp?

It only takes about 1-3 minutes to cook uncooked shrimp. Just make sure that you keep an eye on it and take it out when it is pink so you do not overcook it.
