Instant Pot Popcorn

For as long as I can remember, my love for popcorn came from my time at movie theaters. But let’s be honest – movie theater popcorn is expensive, and I’ve actually learned over the years that I prefer homemade popcorn.

You can easily add your favorite popcorn seasonings, which can be so many flavors. Think cheddar, cinnamon powder, chili powder, and more.

A lot of times, people will make fresh popcorn kernels on the stove, but I prefer the Instant Pot. Is there nothing that the Instant Pot can’t do? It’s the best!  

What do I need to make Instant Pot popcorn?

It’s so easy to make this gluten-free popcorn.

  • oil

You will also need a glass lid like this 1.

You can use whatever oil you like, some of my favorites are olive oil, canola oil, or avocado oil. You can also use vegetable oil or a couple of tablespoons of coconut oil or butter.

Once you hear that popcorn pop, you know that it’s almost time for you to sprinkle on your popcorn seasoning and enjoy!

I love to toss in cinnamon sugar for a sweet treat or use a little cayenne or curry powder to jazz it up the taste.

What are the best toppings for pressure cooker popcorn?  

Add any mixture that you’d like! You can add Parmesan cheese, or if you want to keep it vegan, you can add garlic powder or salt. 

If you want to make this popcorn into a dessert, you can melt chocolate and drizzle it as well.

How do you store leftover popcorn?

If you have popped popcorn left over, just add it to an airtight container and keep it stored on the counter. You can shake and grab a handful anytime you want.

Is it hard to make popcorn in the pressure cooker?

Seriously, not at all. Using the pressure cooker is one of the best ways to make sure that all the kernels get popped all the way.

I’ve made pressure cooker popcorn so many times, and it’s the best way to have the least amount of kernels.

Trust me when I say that cooking popcorn in the air fryer is not only fast and simple – but delicious!

Where do I store kernels before popping them?

You have options. Some people store them in the cabinet, while others will keep the min the fridge. I think that storing them in a mason jar or airtight container is the best way to store them and keep them nice and fresh.

Instant Pot Popcorn

Prep Time: 1 minute

Ingredients

  • ½ Cup Popcorn Kernels
  • 2 Tablespoons Oil

Instructions

  1. Set your pot on saute and immediately place the oil inside your instant pot.
  2. Allow the oil to heat up for about 2 minutes, or until your instant pot displays the word “hot”. close up of instant pot and the screen says hot

  4. Stir for about 1 minute before putting a lid on the top you can see through. stirring pop corn kernels in the instant pot
  5. In about 2-3 minutes of heating while covered, you will start to hear the popcorn kernels popping. instant pot set to on
