My family loves cheesecake. My Grammie made this a staple of any holiday gathering. We would have plain or cherry. There has always been something I hated about the cherries from the can. Not sure what it was but I hated it, so I would always eat the plain one.
What makes this Butterfinger cheesecake stand out, is you make the crust with a boxed cake mix. Okay, before you start bringing in pitch forks hear me out. This really gives you a crust that will pair perfectly with the fluffy cheesecake. You can have that homemade cheesecake flavor in an easy recipe. You might even have all these ingredients on hand so you don’t have to head to the store for supplies.
Another great thing to remember is around Halloween after your kids head out and trick or treat make sure to raid their bags for Butterfingers. I also head to the store for that 50-75% off and stock up on candy. I toss it in the freezer so I have them on hand for later when I feel the urge to make this scrumptious cheesecake.
- 1 devils food box cake
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- For filling
- 4 8 oz boxes of cream cheese softened
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 cup of whipped cream thawed
- Preheat oven to 325.
- Mix box cake, 1 egg and vegetable oil until it looks kind of like dirt.
- Spray pie pans.
- Press half of the mixture into pie pan, going up the sides as far as you can.
- Set aside.
- Mix cream cheese and sugar until smooth.
- Add 1 egg at a time, mixing it in, in between each egg.
- Mix in whipped cream, mix till smooth.
- Add half of the cream cheese mixture to the pan.
- Bake for 55 minutes.
Can You Use Other Candy Bars
Yes! Don’t feel you have to limit yourself to Butterfingers to make this cheesecake. You can take your favorite candy bars and transform them into this rich and fluffy cheesecake. Now, I love the mix of cheesecake and Butterfinger I feel it compliments each other nicely. But, you can use other candy bars. Rolo’s, Reese’s, Snickers, Milky Way, you name it, the sky is the limit.
