Most homes you find cotton balls in the bathroom, and they normally don't make their way out of the bathroom. If that is the case in your home, be prepared to be surprised at all the unique uses of cotton balls that you have been missing out on. Learn how to protect rubber gloves, freshen up a room, and even using cotton balls for campfires. I have uses for cotton balls for inside the home and out, that you will want to remember.

I am huge on finding as many uses for products as I can. Here at my house we love to maximize the benefits from classic items like cotton balls, baby wipes, petroleum jelly, and the list goes on. If you love hack style post, you will enjoy this one.

    12 Uses For Cotton Balls

    Ants

If you find that ants have invaded our home, you need to try this hack. Take a cup of hot water, ⅓ cup sugar, and ½ tablespoons of borax. You want to dissolve the borax and sugar into the water, place the cotton balls in and let them soak. Then take the cotton balls out and put on some tin foil and stick in the area where the ants are coming in. The sugar will lure the ants in, but the borax is what will kill them.

    Blister Protection

To protect your heels from getting blisters from new shoes, put a cotton ball on the blister or spot where a blister would form, and then secure it with a bandage. It will help protect your foot.

    Toothache Relief

Grab a cotton ball and soak it with some whiskey, or vanilla extract, and then put it on the tooth that hurts. It will help numb and soothe the pain until you can get to the dentist.

    Permanent Marker Remover

If you get permanent marker on your skin dip a cotton ball in milk and rub it around on the area that has the marker. It will help to pull the marker off the skin.

    Water Spots

Get a cotton ball and soak it in a mix of half vinegar and half water, and then rub it on the areas that have buildup or water spots. Then buff clean with a soft cloth.

     Fire Starter

Add some petroleum jelly to the cotton ball and light it up. This will catch on fire pretty fast and help start your fire.

    Room Refresher

Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to a cotton ball. Or you can even do something like vanilla extract. Place in your closet or even in the bathroom and it will help freshen the room.

    Rabbits in Garden

If rabbits are getting into your garden and tearing up your plants try this tip. Dip your cotton ball in vinegar and place it around your flowers and veggies. They don't like the scent and will stay away.

    Protect Gloves From Long Nails

If you have longer nails add cotton balls inside the tips so your nails won't tear up the tips of the gloves. Works like a charm.

    Vacuum Refresher

Take a cotton ball with some essential oil on it and place in the area where the dirt and dust come in. When you turn your vacuum on it will begin to whirl around and release the aroma of the oil.

    Pen Marks on Clothes

Soak a cotton ball in alcohol and then gently dab it on the garment that has a pen mark on it. This will help lift out the stain.

    Car Freshener

Same thing as when you freshen your home you can do the same thing in your car. Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil and place it on the back seat floor or even trunk.
