Juicy shredded chicken, savory and tangy barbeque sauce wrapped and baked in a crunchy wonton wrapper.

These chicken tacos are incredible, and you have to give them a try the next time you are craving chicken.

You will totally feel like you have been missing out on your entire life of these juicy chicken tacos.

A handful of ingredients is all you need to make these creative chicken tacos.

I came up with these one time as we were needing to go out for groceries, but I didn’t have the motivation to get out in the snow and ice. So I raided my fridge and pantry, and this is what I created. 

Easy Shredded Chicken Tacos

I knew it was a great combo before I started, but the end result literally blew my mind.

The wonton wrapper really gives it a whole new texture that you don’t get from a taco shell, and it bumped up the flavor for sure.

Then pair with your favorite BBQ sauce and you have one outstanding simple and quick weeknight dinner.

You could even dip these shredded chicken tacos into ranch, sour cream, or eat alone. 

How Do You Make Moist Shredded Chicken 

For me personally, I do of two options. I either use my Instant Pot to cook frozen chicken that I forgot to set out the night before. Or I boil my chicken on the stove top. Both ways really help to keep the moisture in the kitchen so you have a moist and flavorful chicken that you can then season and dress as you prefer. 

Because the Instant Pot seals up and builds high pressure, it really pushes moisture into the chicken leaving it nice and juicy. Then with boiling it is in water, so it doesn’t run the risk of drying out as easily. 

Can You Shred Chicken In A Blender 


If you want to shred chicken fast use a blender or even a stand mixer if you want to skip using two forks to pull it apart.

Toss in the blender and pulse for just a couple of seconds and you have shredded chicken.

Don’t go overboard or you will end with mush. 

For a stand mixer just toss the chicken in, put on the paddle attachment and turn on low.

This is my go-to method, simple and easy.

Shredded Chicken Tacos

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes

  • 1 package wonton wrappers
  • butter flavored cooking spray
  • 2 lb chicken breast, shredded
  • 1/4 c barbecue sauce


  1. You can either boil the chicken until done or cook in the instant pot (also from frozen) for 15 minutes manual then quick release.
  2. When done remove, shred, and ass the bbq sauce
  3. Preheat oven to 400.
  4. Using a deep casserole dish sprayed with cooking oil, fill each wrapper on the diagonal and place in the dish.
  5. Wet your fingers a little with water then pinch the ends together and place in the dish.
  6. It's ok if they overlap a little bit.
  7. Bake for 4-5 minutes, until the edges lightly golden. Remove from pan and repeat as needed.
  8. Serve hot.


Notes: These are amazing topped with a little cole slaw
