If you are on the hunt for natural ways to prepare your body for childbirth, I have some tips for you below. Being able to get your body as ready as it can be and to start labor on it’s on is one of the best things. Sometimes when we induce labor it leads to a higher chance of having a c-section because our bodies are not fully ready. Now if you have to be induced know, many women have no problem having a baby vaginally, just induction can up the chance of c-section.

Ways To Prepare Your Body for Childbirth

Childbirth is a marathon and not a sprint. It takes time and if you can do things to prepare your body you will be amazed at how much it can help you when you are going through labor and delivery.

Prepare Your Body For Childbirth Naturally

    Fitness Ball

Once you hit around 37 weeks or when your doctor recommends sit on a fitness ball and roll it around in a circular motion, gently bounce up and down. This helps your baby to get in the right position and helps your body get ready for birth.

    Dates

Eating 5-6 dates each day has been shown to help with dilation and even decrease your laboring time by a few hours. You can begin eating dates in your third trimester.

    Coconut Oil

Around 36-38 weeks take come coconut oil and begin applying it in your private. Stretch the skin and sides to help prevent tearing during labor and delivery. Some women use this trick and don’t even tear or have minimal tearing.

    Educate

One big thing a lot of moms forget is they need to educate themselves. The more we allow ourselves to become fearful, anxious and just tense the harder labor will become. You need to know what is going to happen so you can stay relaxed and calm as much as you can.

    Long Walks

Staying active during your pregnancy is great unless your doctor tells you otherwise. Walking and standing up really helps keep you healthy but also allows gravity to work the baby down into the birthing canal and sets you up for success.

    Evening Primrose Pills

Many moms swear by evening primrose, to really help your body naturally prepare for birth. You start around 35 weeks and take 1-3 a day. Then when you hit 37-38 weeks take 1-3 but insert one pill vaginally. Poke a small hole in the top of pill before you insert so your body can absorb it. This will help your cervix along. Then when you hit 39 weeks you can go up to 2 pills a night vaginally.

    Meditation

Meditating is a great way to train your body and mind to find peace and relaxation during harder times. This is great to find a safe place in your mind and work on focusing on it so when laboring starts you can breathe properly through contractions. When we tense up it slows the laboring process down a lot, so accepting and finding a way to block out some of the pain is helpful.

    Cod Liver Oil

Around 32 weeks begin taking a tablespoon a day, this is a great way to give baby nutrients for their growing bodies and help boost their brain growth.

    Ignore Negativity

You don’t need to hear horror stories of how a friend went through labor. You need to surround yourself with positive and encouraging people and ignore the negative. Labor and delivery is scary no matter how many kids you have. You don’t need to walk intense and anxious because of what someone said. Walk on feeling calm and just remember millions of women have given birth time and time again. You can do it and it will hurt some but you can get through it!
