Cheesy Keto Taco Skillet With Ground Beef

Show Some Love!

Taco Tuesday isn’t really the same unless you have an amazing taco recipe, right? So, I developed this keto taco skillet because on Tuesday we should eat tacos! My keto taco skillet is probably one of the best keto ground beef recipes I have tried.

I have been on and off this low carb journey for a while now. Today I was craving tacos and I had to be sure not to mess up what I had started. So I needed a keto taco of some kind.

So I came up with this Cheesy Ground Beef Keto Taco Skillet.  This is a great recipe and topped with sour cream and a little lettuce these keto tacos are amazing and extremely keto friendly. You could mix it up and use any shredded cheese you like for this recipe.

My favorite is triple cheddar cheese, which fits into the guidelines of the low carb keto diet.

Check out the nutritional information below, this low carb taco recipe is only 4 net grams of carbs per serving! Sounds like a win to me!

And one of the best things about this recipe is you make the taco seasonings from scratch! No ridiculous named ingredients or things you have never heard of.

What seasonings can I use on the keto diet?

You can use most herbs and spices on the keto diet, just make sure to check your tracker app for the servings. My Homemade Taco Seasoning recipe which is the same that I used in this keto taco skillet recipe only has 2 net grams of carbs per serving.

You could easily create a lettuce wrap add cauliflower rice, black soybeans, and also, sub in ground chicken or turkey and still stay within your daily macros. And even if you aren’t on a low carb diet, you can slap this on a tortilla and it is great. But if you are these cheese taco shells are great!

I have been back on keto for about a week now and I have lost 8 lbs sticking to a low carb high fat diet, and it is going great! It feels great, I feel better, my skin looks better, and in general, I’m just not as tired. And I can eat amazing recipes like this Keto taco skillet.

I am loving finding new recipes that taste amazing and is within my net carb count for that meal. When you try this Cheesy Ground Beef Keto Taco Skillet, I promise you will not be disappointed.

Keto Taco Skillet

My family loved this recipe, my kids even went back in for seconds, my youngest grabbed some tortilla chips and ate it as a dip, while I wrapped mine in lettuce and topped with guacamole and sour cream.

Versatility is what makes this a great meal for families who have 1 or 2 following the keto lifestyle and others not. My kids had no idea that this keto taco skillet was considered “diet food” and it is a great one to add to your weekly meal plans.

I can’t tell you how many times during my journey, both now and when I was working on this before, I had to make myself an LCHF meal then make a completely different meal for my kids. Ugh, that’s the worst!

I started on my journey back in 2016 and fell off for quite a while. I fell off because actual planning at least for me is important when it comes to living a keto lifestyle.

And I was way too busy (not really) to make time to plan.

What really happened is I was having trouble with variety until I realized there are ways to convert “normal” recipes into something that fit my macros, and they still taste amazing.

Like this Cauliflower Fried Rice it surprisingly tastes like the real thing.

I love to top with a few diced tomatoes, sometimes I put green chilis in while I am cooking it. The chili powder gives it some amazing flavor.

You can add things like bell pepper, sour cream, even these soy black beans are great for a low carb diet and don’t forget the Mexican cheese blend.

Can you have tacos on the keto diet?

Absolutely, however not in the traditional way. This keto taco skillet is an amazing alternative. Grab a couple low carb tortillas, avocado fries or your favorite low carb food that you like to use to dip and you have an amazing taco meal!

Is Turkey Good on Keto?

Ground turkey is a great alternative to ground beef if you don’t eat red meat. And like most meats are great for keto and low carb.

  1. Heat a skillet on med-hi heat and add olive oil.
  2. Add chopped onions and cook until they become almost translucent.
  3. Put ground beef in the skillet, cook until no longer pink, chopping as it cooks.
  4. Add tomatoes and green chilies, with their juices and stir.
  5. Add spices and stir in well.
  6. Stir in cilantro.
  7. Reduce to low and allow to simmer 5 to 7 minutes to thicken.
