Just when you think there couldn’t be any more sweet, creative, delicious shuffle recipes; I come along with yet another winner: keto churro chaffle.

If you are not yet familiar with the keto way of eating allow me to explain.

Ketogenic diets are focused on high fat, low carbohydrate, adequate protein eating plans. This type of diet forces the body to burn stored fat as energy rather than the carbohydrates it would normally rely on.

Ideally, about 75% of your daily calories on keto would come from healthy fats, a moderate protein intake of about 20%, in about a 5% input of carbohydrates.

Churros are a traditional snack in Spain and Portugal, where they first originated. Typically this tree is fried dough with a crispy coat of cinnamon-sugar. You would normally see a churro in a long slender shape similar to a breadstick.

This is often sold by street vendors and sought after by hungry patrons looking for a simple, scrumptious handheld dessert. Now imagine the perfect marriage of the churro to the keto waffle.

Keto Churro Chaffles

The keto churro chaffle recipe we are working with contains a quarter cup of almond flour. In this small amount of mighty almond flour, you will see that it fits the bill for the keto diet perfectly.

The mild and buttery flavor of mozzarella blends well into sweet or savory dishes with no issues and is also keto-friendly. Another aspect that makes this a winner is the use of Swerve.

Swerve is just what we are looking for to sweeten a keto treat. What is a churro without cinnamon, right?

Feel free to adjust the amount of cinnamon for your keto churro chaffles to your likings.  With butter in the topping, it takes the decadence level up a notch or two.

I don’t know about you, but I’m a pushover for something where you can taste the yummy butter straight away. With only around five minutes to prepare your five ingredients for the shuffle and the three-ingredient toppings you will have them ready to cook in no time.

Cooking with a waffle iron is a breeze my friend, and that’s another reason to love this keto churro chaffle. When using a mini waffle iron this recipe makes three little waffles.

I like to plate these keto churro chaffles up one at a time so I feel like I can go back for a second and then a third. Cook time is just 10 minutes which only feels long when you get a whiff of the enticing aroma.

Keto Churro Chaffle

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes

  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup almond flour
  • 2 tablespoons of Swerve granular
  • 1/8 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons of melted butter
  • 3 tablespoons of Swerve granular
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon (reduce in half if you like less)


  1. Combine all ingredients for chaffle in a bowl and mix until combined well.
  2. Use a mini waffle iron to make three chaffles. You do not want to overfill, put just enough batter in the waffle iron to cover the bottom as it will expand some.
  3. When the third waffle is cooking, melt butter for the topping and combine the Swerve and cinnamon.
  4. When all three waffles are done, cover with “churro” topping and eat immediately.churro based chaffle
