Popeyes Chicken Tenders in The Air Fryer

Ingredients
- 2 pounds chicken breast, skinless and boneless
- 2 cups buttermilk
- ½ cup Louisiana style hot sauce + ¼ cup divided
- 3 large eggs
- 2 cups self-rising flour
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- ½ - 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Slice chicken breasts into tender size strips.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together buttermilk and ½ cup hot sauce.
- Add chicken and buttermilk mixture to a large Ziploc bag or storage container and refrigerate for a minimum of 1 hour, up to 2.
- Remove chicken from fridge and dry gently with paper towels, then discard the buttermilk.
- Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees F.
- In a mixing bowl, add flour, seasonings, and salt, then whisk together.
- In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together eggs and ¼ cup hot sauce.
- Dredge strips in flour mixture, then egg mixture, then flour mixture.
- Place strips in air fryer basket, leaving space between each one. Coat each one heavily with cooking oil spray.
- Cook at 400 degrees for 13 to 15 minutes or until a thermometer reads 165 degrees in the thickest part of the strip.
